Baseball Drops Contest With Siena

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The baseball team (10-13, 2-5 MAAC) lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game to Siena (1-21, 1-5 MAAC) 11-7, Sunday, at Sal Maglie Stadium. The Saints opened up a 10-2 lead and held on for the victory.

Junior pitcher Mark Wilson (Peterborough, Ont.) took the loss, allowing nine runs on 12 hits in four-plus innings of work.

The Purple Eagles fell behind 6-0 in the third inning before registering their first hit. After freshman Jason Cramer (Jackson, N.J.) was hit by a pitch, junior shortstop Andrew Macdonald (Charlottetown, P.E.I.) blasted a home run over the left field wall for the first round-tripper at Sal Maglie Stadium this season. Macdonald finished the game with a team-high three RBIs.

Trailing 10-2, Niagara inched closer with a run in the sixth and four in the seventh. Junior left fielder Tim Alberts (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had a two-run single in the seventh. Junior second baseman Harrison Harber (Kanata, Ont.) had a team-high three hits.

The Purple Eagles are back in action when they travel to Big Four rival, Buffalo, April 10 at 3 p.m.
