Led by a solid pitching performance by sophomore Dan Griffin (Schenectady, N.Y.), Niagara defeated Marist, 3-1, in Game 2 of the doubleheader, falling in Game 1 to the Red Foxes, 5-3.

With the split, Niagara remains a game out of fourth place in the MAAC standings, a crucial position as the top four teams in the conference advance to the MAAC Tournament, May 26-28.

Offensively, the Purple Eagles were led by senior Reed Eastley (Brandon, Man.), who was 3-for-7 on the day with an RBI and a run scored.

Marist got on the board in the sixth on a Brachold single to left, scoring sophomore Travis Musolf, but Griffin shut the door on any potential comeback by the Red Foxes.
