McCurdy Perfect in Split

Niagara University, NY- Senior tri-captain Josh McCurdy (Thornhill, Ont) was 8-8 in a two game series against the University at Albany on Wednesday afternoon to help the Purple Eagles to a split with the Great Danes.

Niagara took the first game 6-4 as freshman Steve Taylor (Syracuse, NY) earned the win. Albany jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning but could not keep the Purple Eagles down as they bounced back for four runs in the third inning and would add another in the fourth. That is all Niagara needed as Matt Fuller (Syracuse, NY) would pitch the seventh inning earning the save.

In game two of the day- day double header their would be a different tail to be told as they Great Danes scored eleven runs in the top of the seventh to beat the Purple Eagles by a score of 14-4.

Having multi hit games for the Purple Eagles were Josh McCurdy (8-8), Mike Alati (3-7, HR), and Mark Bomar (Austin TX, 2-3).

With the split the Great Danes improve to 10-19 and the Purple Eagles improve to 14-15 overall. The Purple Eagles head back to the Diamond this weekend for a three game league series with Siena College.
