NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - Niagara University will host the Buffalo Sabres summer development camp at Dwyer Arena on the Lewiston campus from June 25 to July 1. There will be an on-ice sessions open to the public each day from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The seven-day camp will feature a roster of 30 Sabres prospects, including recently-signed college draft picks Nathan Gerbe, Tim Kennedy and Chris Butler. Also in attendance will be forward Drew Stafford, who played in 64 games with the NHL club in 2007-2008. Goaltender Jhonas Enroth and defenseman Dennis Persson will also make their first North American appearance at the camp. The pair signed with the Sabres in early June.
The players will take part in both on-ice and off-ice workouts. The goals of the camp are to give the prospective players the fundamental ideas of the Sabres playing system and the conditioning programs of an NHL player. The camp participants will also study and examine NHL rules and the successful techniques a player must possess to become a professional athlete.
