Women's Lacrosse Falls to USC

Box Score

Los Angeles, Calif. - Niagara women's lacrosse wrapped up their west coast swing falling to USC 19-10 Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Purple Eagles fell to 1-6, while the Trojans improved to 6-2.

Niagara struck first just three minutes into the game when Ella Wambach beat Trojans goaltender Ellie Thomas.

The lead did not last long however, as USC knotted things back up 30 seconds later with a goal from Vivian Leuthold.

Emma Alexander gave the Purple Eagles the lead back, finding the back of the net with 9:33 remaining in the first quarter. Michaela Delles doubled Niagara's lead three minutes later with a player-up goal.

Kensington Keane and Abberly Dela Rosa tacked on two more goals for Niagara at the end of the first to give the Purple Eagles a 5-1 after the first 15 minutes.

The Trojans stormed back in the beginning of the second, scoring five straight to gain a 6-5 advantage heading into the second quarter media timeout.

USC added four more goals out of the media timeout break to make it a 10-5 game heading into halftime.

The start of the third quarter was much like the start of the second with the Trojans scoring six straight down to the 9:18 mark of the frame.

Olivia Ng stopped the USC run by burying a pass from Delles to shrink the gap. However the Trojans responded with two more goals to close out the quarter making it 18-6.

The Purple Eagles tried to mount a comeback in the fourth, scoring four straight. Maive Partlow got things going, followed by tallies from Bianca McGrayne, Lily Harris and Dela Rosa with her second of the game.

USC added another goal late to ultimately take the game 19-10.
