NIAGARA, UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — Niagara University baseball swept Saint Peter's in the first two games of a three game series on Friday at John P. Bobo Field. The Purple Eagles dominated the first game 12-0, before taking the nightcap 4-3.
How it Happened
Game One
The Purple Eagles (7-15) had complete control of game one, putting up six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jacob Brooks, Vincent Mauro, Carter Aarts and Nate Milk all plated runs to give Niagara an early lead.
Niagara put up another strong inning in the bottom of the third scoring five more runs to make it a 11-0 ballgame. Milk and Curtis McKay doubled, while Elijha Hammill recorded an RBI single to all drive in runs before McKay wrapped up the inning scoring on a wild pitch.
Brooks tacked on one more insurance run in the bottom of the fifth bringing home Milk for his third run of the game.
Matthew Delvecchio (2-3) got the start on the mound for the Purple Eagles, throwing 7.0 innings of scoreless ball, punching out five batters. Ethan McNish-Heider and John Ondus closed out the game for Niagara both pitching one inning.
Game Two
The Peacocks (7-18) found their offense in the nightcap, getting on the scoreboard first, plating a run on a sacrifice bunt from Tyler DeClus. Saint Peter's doubled their lead in the third frame with a double off the bat of Ashby Vining.
Niagara responded in the bottom of the fourth tying the contest at two with an RBI single from Kozar, followed by an RBI double off the bat of Mauro.
Tyler ViVacqua came in as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning and gave Niagara the lead with an RBI single up the middle to bring home Kozar. Mauro continued his dominant day at the plate with a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth to double the Purple Eagles lead.
Saint Peter's tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the ninth with a two out RBI double from Alex Rakas, but Niagara was able to strand two Peacocks runners on base and secure the victory.
Maximilian Ramirez IV (1-0) got the call in the nightcap earning his first win of the season, allowing two runs on two hits in 6.0 innings of work. Andrew Damiani was called upon to close out the final three innings to record his second save of the season.

• Elijha Hammill recorded a career-high three hits in the game one victory.
• Carter Aarts tallied his first multi-RBI game with two in game one.
• Matthew Delvecchio struck out a season-high five batters in his seven innings of work.
• Vinny Mauro has reached base safely in each of the last six games, doing so three times in game two.
• Jacob Brooks extended his hitting streak to 12 straight games.
• Curtis McKay recorded his first triple of the season, extending his on base streak to 10 straight contests.
