NIAGARA, UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — Niagara University baseball rallied from a seven-run deficit with a 10-run seventh inning to defeat Mercyhurst 14-9 on Tuesday at John P. Bobo Field.
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (6-15) trailed 9-2 entering the bottom of the seventh before sending 14 batters to the plate, collecting six hits and benefiting from four walks in the decisive inning.
Elijha Hammill led Niagara's offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Vincent Mauro added a triple and two RBIs, while
Connor Schramm drove in two runs during the seventh-inning explosion.
Eddie Dolansky (1-0) earned the win in relief, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings, while
Andrew Damiani recorded his first save with two shutout frames to close the game.
Mercyhurst (4-20) built its lead with a four-run fourth inning and another four-run sixth, powered by Ray Altmeyer's home run and Chris Juchno's two-run double. Nolan Kirsch (0-3) took the loss after allowing six runs while recording just one out during Niagara's seventh-inning rally.
