BUFFALO, N.Y. — Niagara University swimming dominated Battle of the Bridge rival Canisius College in a dual meet Saturday, with the men winning 238-50 and the women prevailing 212-72 at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.
The Purple Eagles were led by sophomore
Alaina Pitton, who set a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.43. Pitton also set a program record time of 1:01.35 in winning the 100 breaststroke. Both times set new program bench marks as well.
Freshman Marty Divis established a new Niagara program record in the women's 1000 freestyle, touching first in 10:22.50.
The Niagara men were paced by senior
Sean Finley, who captured both breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 55.40 and the 200 in 2:01.46. Senior
Gio Germano dominated the butterfly events, taking the 100 in 49.77 and contributing to Niagara's winning 200 medley relay (1:30.71).
On the women's side,
Natalie Killion won multiple events for the Purple Eagles, including the 200 freestyle (1:52.80) and 500 freestyle (4:58.77).
Paige South added victories in the 50 freestyle (23.88) and 100 freestyle (51.96).
Niagara swept all four relay events, with both the men's and women's teams winning the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
