Hockey Unveils 2024-25 Schedule

Niagara University, N.Y.—Niagara hockey head coach Jason Lammers announced the Purple Eagles schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season on Wednesday. The schedule features two exhibition games, eight non-conference matchups, and 24 Atlantic Hockey America contests.

The Purple Eagles open the season on the road as they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State in an exhibition game against the Buckeyes on Oct. 6.

Niagara opens the regular season with a pair of games in the North Country against ECAC foes Clarkson and St. Lawrence. The Purple Eagles take on the Golden Knights on Oct. 11 before closing out opening weekend against the Saints on Oct. 12.

The Purple Eagles then travel to the Capital Region to take on RPI in a two-game non-conference series.

Atlantic Hockey play opens on Oct. 25 as the Purple Eagles play a home-and-home series with Robert Morris with the Purple Eagles playing at Dwyer Arena on Oct. 26.

After opening AHA play against Robert Morris, the Purple Eagles play nine straight Atlantic Hockey games with one being against RIT and two each against Mercyhurst, Army, Holy Cross, and AIC.

Following nine straight AHA games, the Purple Eagles welcome Union to Dwyer Arena for the first time since 2017 for a two-game series against the Garnet Chargers.

The Purple Eagles close out Atlantic Hockey play in 2024 with a trip to Colorado to take on Air Force on Dec. 6-7.

Following the holiday break, the Purple Eagles return to Dwyer Arena for five straight games starting on Dec. 29. Niagara takes on the University of Guelph in an exhibition before hosting Bentley on Jan. 3-4.

Niagara closes out non-conference play the following weekend with a two-game series against Alaska Anchorage. It will be the first time in program history that Niagara will take on the Seawolves.

The Purple Eagles close out the regular season with a home-and-home series against Mercyhurst (1/17-18), a road series against RIT (1/24-25), a home series against Sacred Heart (1/31-2/1), a home and home series against Robert Morris (2/14-15), and three games against Canisius (2/11, 2/21-22).

The battle for the Jack Riley Memorial Trophy will play out on AHA campuses over four weekends in March with all 11 AHA teams competing for a berth in the single-game Atlantic Hockey Championship.

The 2025 Atlantic Hockey Postseason will open with single-game first-round match-ups with the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 seeds hosting the No. 11, No. 10 and No. 9 seeds, respectively, on March 1.

Best-of-three quarterfinal series March 8-10 with the No. 1 seed hosting the lowest remaining seed, the No. 2 seed hosting the second-lowest remaining seed, the No. 3 seed hosting the third-lowest remaining seed and the No. 4 seed hosting the No. 5 seed. Semifinal best-of-three series will take place March 14-16 with the highest-seeded quarterfinal winner hosting the lowest-seeded quarterfinal winner and the second-highest remaining seed hosting the third-highest remaining seed.

The AHA Postseason will conclude on March 22 when the two semifinal winners meet at the home of the highest-seeded semifinal winner for one game to determine Atlantic Hockey's 2025 postseason champion.
