NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The visiting St. Bonaventure Bonnies came into the Gallagher Center and topped Niagara (1-6, 0-2 MAAC) by the final score of 94-60 Wednesday night in non-conference action.
St. Bonaventure (6-2) shot 66.7 percent from the floor, including 63.2 percent from 3-point range. Mika Adams-Woods tallied a game-high 25 points, going 10-for-11 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the perimeter. Three other Bonnies recorded double-digit points. St. Bonaventure outrebounded Niagara 30-13.
Niagara finished the contest shooting 39.6 from the field and 33.3 percent from 3-point land. The Purple Eagles went 15-for-18 from the line. Freshman
Ahmad Henderson II scored a team-high 13 points, followed by transfers
Randy Tucker and
Dre Bullock each tallying 10 points.
How it Happened
Niagara jumped out to a 10-7 lead by the first media timeout, with Henderson scoring six of the Purple Eagles 10. The Purple and White would hold the lead for the next three minutes before a 10-3 run gave Bona a 14-13 lead.
Over the remainder of the first half, Bona would outscore the Purple Eagles 31-7, going 12-for-16 from the field, compared to 2-for-12 for Niagara, going into the half with a 45-20 lead.
Luke Bumbalough would score a 3-pointer on Niagara's second possession of the half before NU went on a five-minute scoring lull by the Purple Eagles saw Bona take a 61-23 lead with just under 16 minutes remaining on the clock.
Over the next six minutes, Niagara would go 4-for-6 from the field and 6-for-6 from the line to make it a 80-37 game with 9:35 to play.
Yaw Obeng-Mensah and Bullock led the way with four points during the stretch.
Niagara would outscore Bona 23-14 in the final nine minutes en route to the games 94-60 final. Tucker had seven of his 10 points in the final stretch, followed by six from Bullock.
