NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – Niagara women's lacrosse head coach
Wendy Stone has announced the programs 2024 17-game slate, featuring eight games at Niagara Field.
The Purple Eagles will open the season with a neutral site contest against UC Davis on Friday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. (EST) in Tempe, Ariz., at the Sun Devil Lacrosse Field, before taking on Arizona State two day's later on Sunday, Feb. 11. The opening draw between the Purple Eagles and Sun Devils will be announced at a later date.
Niagara will return to Monteagle Ridge Feb. 24 through March 3 for a three-game non-conference homestand, hosting Colgate on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m., followed by Le Moyne on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m., and Marquette on March 3 at noon.
The Purple and White will then head to the Sunshine State for a pair of non-conference games. Niagara will take on Stetson on Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand, Fla, before heading to Naples, Fla., and the Paradise Cove Complex three days later to take on Columbia, for a 1 p.m. opening draw.
Niagara will open MAAC play at home against defending MAAC Champion Fairfield on March 23 at noon. The Purple Eagles will also host Manhattan (March 30 - 1 p.m.), Marist (April 6 - 1 p.m.), Rider (April 13 - 1 p.m.), and Quinnipiac (April 21 - 1 p.m.) during conference action.
The Purple and White will travel to Mount St. Mary's (March 27 - 4 p.m.), Siena (April 3 - 3 p.m.), Iona (April 10 - 1 p.m.) and Canisius (April 17 - TBA).
Niagara, who enters its 12th season under head coach
Wendy Stone, is coming off a program record 12-win season in 2023 and its third-straight trip to the MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Purple Eagles advanced to the MAAC semi's before seeing their season come to an end against conference runner-up Siena.
A total of 28 Purple Eagles return from last year's roster, including Co-MAAC Midfielder of the Year
Rachel Crane, and All-MAAC selections,
Lexi Braniecki,
Sydney Huhtala,
Giordan Peck, and
Katie Ling.
Niagara, who had the third best scoring offense in the MAAC last season, returns a total of 215 of its program record 237 goals.
