NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Niagara women's swim team picked up a 152-100 win over visiting Stonehill Saturday afternoon at the Oxy Aquatic Center. The Purple Eagles won 12 of 14 events, while setting three pool and two program records.
Niagara started the event with a dominating performance in the 200 medley relay as
Paige South,
Amanda Silva,
Natalie Killion, and
Lila Maddux combined for a time of 1:46.41, over two seconds faster than the Stonehill quartet that finished second.
Allison Stoehr and Jillian De Reyna would take the top two spots in the 1000 free. Stoehr finished with a time of 10:49.07, followed by De Reyna with a time of 10:56.38.
Freshman
Alaina Pitton would take the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.32, while teammate
Ania Bodyl took second with a mark of 2:01.10.
Megan Smith would make it four wins in four events for NU as the junior picked up the win in the 100 back with a time of 57.52.
The Purple Eagles would set pool records in each of the next two events as
Mary Carl won the 200 fly with a time of 2:06.25 and
Paige South touched the wall in 23.77 in the 50 free to set the new pool benchmark. South's 50 free time is also a program record.
Pitton would win her second event of the day, this time taking the top spot in the 100 free with a time of 52.09.
Baileigh Racky set a pool and program record with a time of 2:02.33 in the 200 back, giving the Purple and White their eighth win on the afternoon.
Junior
Kayla Kreger would keep the winning ways going for NU as she took the 200 breast with a time of 2:25.54.
Amanda Losey, who finished third in the 200 fly earlier in the day, earned first place in the 500 free with a time of 5:22.01.
The reigning MAAC Swimmer of the week, Killion won her first individual event of the day, the 100 fly, with a time of 56.52.
Chloe Vlaeminck would win Niagara's final event of the afternoon, the 400 IM with a time of 4:37.13.
