Purple and White Swept by FDU

BRONX, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles (2-4) were swept by Farleigh Dickinson (2-3) early Saturday afternoon by scores of 25-20, 27-25, and 25-8. 

Match Recap: 
First Set
• After FDU jumped out to a 3-0 lead, Niagara pulled within one following two attack errors by the Knights. 
• The Knights then went on a 5-0 run to take an 8-2 lead over NU. 
Casey Brown recorded a service ace to get Niagara back within striking distance, 14-10. 
• FDU went back up by five, 18-13, after taking four of seven points. 
• Niagara's final point came via a service error and made it a 24-20 game in favor of the Knights. 
• FDU would clinch the set on the next rally to take a 1-0 match lead.

Set 2
• After a kill by Kinga Wronska to make it a 7-5 game in favor of FDU, the Knights took five straight to take an 11-5 lead over the Purple and White.  
• Niagara pulled with two, 15-13, with back-to-back points, first a kill by Liana Tolliver and an attack error by the Knights. 
• With the score 24-19 in favor of FDU, the Purple and White rallied for five-straight points, highlighted by two service aces from Laryssa Imbuzeiro, tying the match at 24-24. 
• FDU would hold on to win the set 27-25.

Set 3
• FDU dominated the third set, going on an 18-1 run. 
• Niagara would score eight points before the set came to a close, highlighted by kills from Allie Simpson, Taylor Allen, and Katie Jacobs
• The Knights took the set 25-8 to seal the sweep of Niagara. 

Niagara Notes
• Freshman Kinga Wronska and Liana Tolliver paced NU with five and four kills, respectively. Wronska also posted a team-high 12 digs. 
• Brown dished out 16 assists while also tallying seven digs, two kills, and a service ace. 
Bella Peroni was second on the squad with 11 digs.
• Imbuzeiro and Tolliver each recorded two service aces, while Imbuzeiro led NU with three block assists. 

Up Next
• Niagara will play a midweek contest with Colgate on Wednesday, Sep. 7. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
