Niagara Defeated by Dartmouth in Home Opener

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – A goal in the 72nd minute lifted Dartmouth (1-0) to a 1-0 win over Niagara (0-3) Friday night at Niagara Field in non-conference men's soccer action

Game Recap
First Half
• The Purple Eagles recorded the first shot on goal in the contest in the 16th minute of play when Nuukele Gboe put a shot on the net that was saved by the Dartmouth keeper, Costi Christodoulou.
• In the 36th minute, Niagara got the ball inside the penalty area and took three shots on goal, all of which were stopped by Christodoulou.
• Rodrigo Almeida put a shot just high of the goal in the 44th minute that would have given NU a 1-0 lead, however, the two teams would go into the break scoreless.

Second Half
• Josh Savoni made his first save of the contest in the 48th minute of play after the Big Green put a solid chance on goal.
• Later in the second half, Ali Alomari shot the ball toward the bottom left of the net but was denied by the Dartmouth keeper.
• Dartmouth took advantage of a NU yellow card to score the game's lone goal in the 72nd minute. Garrett Scott headed the ball past Savoni on the set piece.
• Stephen Hasse would put three chances on goal in the final two minutes of play, with the last one going off the post.

Niagara Notes
• Niagara had eight of its 17 shots go on goal.
• The Purple and White took four corners, compared to one for Dartmouth.
• Emmanuel Obiefuna led NU with four shots, followed by Alomari with three.
• Savoni finished the game with two saves.
