Niagara women's soccer, men's soccer and volleyball are all in action this week. The women's soccer team looks to rebound from a loss to start the season with a pair of contest this week. Men's soccer and volleyball are on the road to start their campaigns as the Purple and White travel to California and Long Island, respectively.

• Following a 4-1 result against UB on Sunday to open the season, Niagara will play its first home game of 2022 on Thursday, Aug. 25 against St. Bonaventure, followed by a trip to Navy on Sunday, Aug. 28.

• The Purple and White open the 2022 campaign in California Thursday night at 4 p.m. EST when it takes on Saint Mary's College, followed by a trip to San Francisco on Saturday for a 7 p.m. EST tilt with the Gaels.
• Niagara was picked sixth in the MAAC Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, based on a vote by the leagues 11 head coaches.
• The Purple Eagles went 8-10 overall in 2021, including a 6-4 MAAC record.

Ren Cefra will open the season this weekend (Friday, Aug. 26-Saturday, Aug. 27) at the Hofstra Invitational, taking on Hofstra, Bryant and Miami in its first three matches of the year.

• The Purple Eagles start their quest for a third-straight Canal Cup Championship in 2022-23. The first Battle of the Bridge meeting between Canisius and NU is slated for Saturday, Sept. 24 when the Niagara volleyball team takes on the Griffs inside the Gallagher Center .
• Former Niagara baseball standouts Matt Brash and Wynton Bernard continue to impress at the major league level. Over the last seven games, Brash has pitched to a 2.45 ERA while striking out 12 as the Mariners continue their push for a wild card spot. Bernard is 7-for-27 for the Rockies since being called up, scoring six runs and swiping three bags.
