Purple Eagles Fall To St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles (12-27) were defeated by St. Bonaventure (3-31), 12-2, on Tuesday.

Game Recap
  • Spencer Marcus had the first hit of the game for NU in the top of the second inning.
  • The Purple Eagles got on the board in the fourth inning, taking a 2-0 lead after an RBI single from Benny Serrano and a score on an error from Spencer Marcus.
  • The Bonnies scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a one-run lead, 3-2.
  • In the top of the fifth, Dawson Bailey singled up the middle to lead-off the inning, but the Bonnies got the next three outs to keep NU off the board.
  • Max Giordano and Marcus had back-to-back singles in the sixth, but were not able to score.
  • St. Bonaventure had a monster bottom of the sixth inning, scoring nine runs to take a 12-2 lead over the Purple Eagles.
  • Cole O'Connor had the final hit of the game for the Purple Eagles in the top of the seventh inning.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Marcus had a team-high three hits and Giordano had two.
  • Serrano had one RBI for the Purple Eagles.
  • Drew Patton tossed 3.0 scoreless innings in a no-decision start. He fanned three.
  • Steven Hospital (1-3) took the loss. He struck out one and gave up three runs on three hits in 1.0 inning pitched.
