NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Purple Eagles (19-30, 13-11 MAAC) clinched the No.6 seed in the MAAC Championships after sweeping Quinnipiac (15-33, 8-15 MAAC), defeating the Bobcats, 10-4, in the teams' series finale on Saturday.
Niagara has won five straight games and finished the regular season 11-4 at Bobo Field. This is Niagara's second straight season earning a berth in the postseason.

Game Recap
- The Bobcats took the first lead of the game, scoring two runs in the top of the second inning to get ahead of NU, 2-0.
- In the bottom of the second inning, an RBI single from Marcus cut Quinnipiac's lead in half, 2-1.
- Quinnipiac added one run in the third to get back ahead of Niagara by two, 3-1.
- Niagara, however, had a phenomenal bottom of the fourth. A two-RBI single from Dawson Bailey tied things up, 3-3. O'Connor then doubled to left field, plating Brady Desjardins to put Niagara in the lead, 4-3.
- A two-RBI single from Marchese and a two-RBI double from Benny Serrano gave the Purple Eagles a five-run advantage, 8-3.
- The Bobcats added one run in the top of the fifth frame, but NU remained ahead, 8-4.
- An RBI groundout from Marchese and an RBI single from Matt Ward in the bottom of the sixth extended the Niagara lead, 10-4.
- The Purple Eagles only allowed three runners on base in the remaining three innings. The Bobcats went down in order in the ninth and Niagara earned the 10-4 victory to sweep the series.
Eagle's Eye On
- Bailey and Serrano led the Purple Eagles in hits with three each. Marcus and Tucker each added two hits.
- Marchese had a team-high three RBIs and Bailey and Serrano each batted in two runs.
- Kyle Smyth (3-1) earned the win on the mound, allowing one earned run on three hits in 3.0 innings of relief.
- Marty Cole tossed the ninth inning for NU, getting the final strikeout of the game to clinch the win for the Purple Eagles.
