NU Drops Midweek Matchup At Towson

TOWSON, Md. – The Purple Eagles (2-12) were defeated by Towson (6-13), 15-2, on Wednesday afternoon.

Game Recap
  • The Tigers took an early lead over the Purple Eagles, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.
  • The Purple Eagles got on the board in the third inning, when a ground-out from Brady Desjardins gave Nick Castellana time to score and cut the Towson lead to six runs, 7-1.
  • A solo homerun from the Tigers in the fifth frame put them back ahead by seven, 8-1.
  • Dawson Bailey answered with a solo homer to center field in the top of the sixth, cutting Towson's lead back to six runs, 8-2.
  • The Tigers, however, maintained in control for the rest of the game, adding seven more runs to defeat NU, 15-2.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Castellana had a team-high two hits, while Bailey and Max Giordano each had one.
  • Desjardins and Bailey each earned one RBI.
  • Benny Serrano had one stolen base for the Purple Eagles.
  • Zac Laird (0-2) took the loss. He gave up seven runs on three hits in 0.2 innings pitched.
  • Marty Cole fanned two in 3.0 innings out of the bullpen.
