Women's Lacrosse Announces 2022 Schedule

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The 2022 Niagara ­­women's lacrosse schedule is set - the Purple and White will play 17-games, highlighted by six games on Monteagle Ridge and a meeting with 2021 NCAA Tournament team Jacksonville.
 
Niagara will open the season with a trip to Florida to take on Stetson (Feb. 17) and Jacksonville (Feb. 20) before returning to the Empire State to play at Army (Feb. 24). The Purple Eagles will close out its four-game road swing to start the season with a trip to Youngstown State (Feb. 27).
 
The program will play its first home game of the 2022 season against Marquette (Mar. 6) followed by three-straight non-league road games, at East Carolina (Mar. 12), Old Dominion (Mar. 18) and Pittsburgh (Mar. 21). 
 
The Purple and White will open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at home against Monmouth (Mar. 26), followed by the Battle of the Bridge at Canisius (Mar. 30) to close out the month.  
 
April begins with a road trip to Hamden, Conn., to take on Quinnipiac (Apr. 2) and New Rochelle, N.Y., to play Iona (Apr. 9).
 
The Purple Eagles then return home for its longest homestand of the season against Marist (Apr. 13), defending MAAC Champion Fairfield (Apr. 16), and Louisville (Apr. 18).
 
The final road game of the season for Niagara will be at Siena (Apr. 21) followed by Senior Day and the regular-season finale against Manhattan (Apr. 24) at Niagara Field. 
 
The MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship will take place April 30 through May 8. Last season, Niagara reached the semifinals of the conference tournament.
 
The Purple Eagles, who will be entering their 10th season under head coach Wendy Stone, are coming off their first winning season since 2004 after finishing the 2021 campaign 8-5 overall and 7-4 in MAAC play. 
 
The Purple and White had a total of six players named to All-MAAC teams a year ago, four of which return for the 2022 season, including MAAC Rookie of the Year Rachel Crane and MAAC Goalie of the Year Michelle Messenger.
