Women's Soccer Prepares for Noon Tilt with Quinnipiac

Game 10: Niagara (8-1-0, 2-0-0) vs. Quinnipiac (5-2-0, 0-1-0)
NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Niagara women's soccer program will put their eight-game win streak on the line on Wednesday afternoon when Quinnipiac arrives for a noon kickoff at Niagara Field.
 
Series History
• The Purple Eagles and Bobcats will be meeting for the ninth time Wednesday and first time since 2019.
• Niagara is 3-4-1 all-time against the Bobcats, but have fell in each of the last four meetings.
 
Niagara Notes
• Niagara freshman Maia MacLean was named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after scoring two goals in the Purple Eagles win over Manhattan last Saturday.
• MacLean is second on the team and fourth in the MAAC with six goals this season.
Florence Vaillancourt is second in the nation in goals per game (1.12), points per game (3.0), game winning goals (4), fifth in total points (24) and first in shot accuracy (0.826).
• Vaillancourt leads the conference in goals (9), assists (6) and points (24).
• Niagara is currently on a eight-game winning streak, matching the programs longest streak set in 2005 when they won eight game in a row during a 11-game unbeaten streak.
• Niagara leads the team goals (28) and scoring average (3.11).
• The Purple Eagles have five student-athletes with two or more goals this season, with Vaillancourt and MacLean leading the way with nine and six, respectively.
Djeynaba Thiam and Annie Ibey are third-and-fourth on the team with five and three tallies.
• Thiam scored the Purple Eagles second goal in the win over Manhattan and has one goal in each of the last three games for Niagara.
Felicia Grufman and Clara Bornet have split time in goal for Niagara this season. Grufman has played 433:06 minutes while Bornet is 385:04.
• Grufman is the team leader in saves (16) and goals against average (1.04).
 
Quinnipiac Notes
• The Bobcats fell to Monmouth in their MAAC opener by the final score of 2-1.
• Rebecca Cook leads Quinnipiac with seven goals on the season, followed by Selena Salas who has five.
• Meaghan Phillips is the team's primary goalie, playing 540 minutes in goal. Phillips has 21 saves, while allowing six goals.
• The Bobcats won all five non-league games they played, outscoring their opponents, 17-4.
 
Up Next
• Niagara will conclude a two-game home stand with a bout with Fairfield on Saturday. The game will kickoff at noon from Niagara Field.
