Hamden, CT – Two goals from Caitlyn Gratton and one from Naiya Johnston in the second half defeat Quinnipiac 3-2 at Quinnipiac Soccer Complex in Hamden, CT.
Niagara improves to 4-1-0 and 1-0-0 in Metro play, while Quinnipiac falls to 2-2-1 and 0-1-0 in conference play.
The Bobcats recorded two penalty kicks that resulted in goals in the first half, in the 29th and 36th minute, as Morgan Cupo recorded both goals for Quinnipiac, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead before halftime.
Just 45 seconds into the second half, Niagara responded as the Ancaster, Ontario native
Caitlyn Gratton put the Purple Eagles on the board in the 46th minute of play as
Naiya Johnston recorded the assist to cut the Bobcats' lead in half.
The Purple and White were awarded their first penalty kick of the game in the 60th minute as Gratton was awarded the kick and recorded her brace as she knotted the game up at two apiece.
Johnston recorded her first collegiate goal and the game-winner in the 79th minute of play as
Angelina Kristic recorded the assist on Johnston's tally to give Niagara a 3-2 win over Quinnipiac.
