Gratton, Trinder Lead Niagara Past Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. - Goals from Caitlyn Gratton and Lucy Trinder helped Niagara defeat Syracuse 2-1 at SU Soccer Stadium in Syracuse, N.Y.  
 
Niagara improves to 2-1-0 while Syracuse falls to 3-1-1 on the season. 
 
The Ancaster, Ontario native Caitlyn Gratton kicked off the match for the Purple and White as she stripped the Orange defender of the ball and put one past the Syracuse keeper Maggie Manning in the second minute of action. 
 
The Purple Eagles doubled their lead courtesy of freshman Lucy Trinder as it became the eventual game winner from a dish from Naiya Johnston and Sarah Lucas in the 81st minute to give Niagara a 2-0 lead. 
 
Syracuse cut into the Purple Eagles lead as Moo Galbus scored in the 89th minute of play with Ali Howard with the lone assist on the play, but Niagara came away victorious 2-1. 
 
Sophomore Julia Poissant recorded two saves in the win.
