The Niagara softball program will play a pair of doubleheaders at home versus MAAC rival Iona March 20-21.
• The Purple Eagles open their 40-game conference slate with four games against Iona this weekend.
• First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for noon, while Sunday is set for an 11:00 a.m. start.
• Niagara was selected eighth in the MAAC preseason coaches' poll.
• The Purple and White went 3-7 overall in 2020 before the season was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The Purple Eagles return 16 student-athletes from a year ago, including
Rachel Funk and
Bailey Stayner whose senior seasons were cut short due to COVID-19.

Shayna Myshrall had a strong rookie campaign in 2020 for the Purple Eagles, batting a team-best .424. She also led the team in hits (14), doubles (four), homeruns (one), RBIs (seven) and slugging percentage (.636). She had the fifth-best batting average in the conference.

Karsen Cotton made a team-high four starts in 2020, going 0-2 with a 8.79 ERA. Cotton returns as the team leader in strikeouts from a year ago with 10.
• Sophomore
Riley Crum pitched 10.2 innings in 2020, making four appearances and two starts.
