Buffalo, N.Y. - Niagara Softball fell to Canisius in a doubleheader 5-2, 6-5 at the Demske Sport Complex in Buffalo, N.Y.
Game One
After a scoreless first inning, Canisius got on the board in the second as Grace Walker recorded a solo home run followed by Mia Preuhs two-run homer.
Niagara got on the board in the third as
Donnalea Barnett singled as
Ella Sheehan scored on a Golden Griffin throwing error.
Canisius added to their lead in the fifth as Sofia Escoto flied out in a sacrifice effort to plate Ella Johel.
Later in the sixth, Barnett scored off a
Jolyn Gibbons single to left field to make game one 4-2.
To round out game one Preuhs singled to left field to plate Maddy Hans to make Canisius victorious in game one 5-2.
Gianna Graber pitched all six innings for the Purple Eagles as she faced 28 batters with one strikeout.
Game Two
To kick off game two
Hailey Cenname recorded the game's first run as she homered to left field to give the Purple and White an early 1-0 lead.
The Golden Griffins answered back in the third with a Sofia Escoto homer to left field to tie the game at one. Michaela Sycalik walked with the bases loaded, which allowed Walker to score to make the game 2-1 in favor of Canisius.
In the fifth
CJ Haney scored off a
Hailey Cenname single to center field to knot the game at two.
Canisius took the lead back in the fifth as Mia Martin scored with the bases loaded as Talia Yermian walked.
Cenname recorded her third RBI of the contest in the seventh as she flied out to center to plate Haney to tie game two at three.
Sophia Marrero then homered to left center for a two RBI homer to give the Purple and White a 5-3 lead.
The Golden Griffins walked it off the seventh as they recorded three runs as Hans recorded the game securing RBI as Bailey Alatorre scored to allow Canisius to take game two 6-5.
Jenna Martin started the game in the circle as she pitched three innings as she saw 19 batters with four punchouts. Abbey Seen pitched the next three as she saw 17 batters.
Ryan Hatty came in to pitch two outs as she saw sevent batters.

• Barnett also adds herself to the Niagara Softball record book as she recorded 15 stolen bases on the season which puts her at third all-time in a single season
