Softball Announced Addition of Four Student-Athletes to the Purple Eagles’ 2027 Roster

Niagara University, N.Y. - Niagara Softball Head Coach Craig Leone announced the addition of three student-athletes to the Purple Eagles' 2027 Roster 
 
Grace Szpylman 
Szpylman arrives on Monteagle Ridge after playing her freshman and sophomore season at Erie Community College. At Grace's time at ECC she pitched 283.2 innings of work while recording 321 strikeouts. Szpylman recorded a 2.36 ERA while going 20-23 overall, Grace started in 41 games while recording two saves. 
 
Ashlyn Pignone 
Before arriving at Niagara, Pignone played her freshman campaign at Erie Community College, appearing in 36 games. She compiled a .469 batting average as she registered 60 hits along with 24 RBIs. Ashlyn recorded a 35-game hitting streak during her freshman season at ECC. Pignone was named Co-Freshman of the Year by the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC). 
 
Cassidy Weller 
Weller comes to Niagara after she played her freshman and sophomore season at Edinboro University where she played 81 games while starting in all of those. Over the two seasons at Edinboro, Weller recorded a .340 batting average, 85 hits, 47 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases. Weller also pitched 32.0 innings, with four starts as she struckout 12 batters. 
 
Kirianna Weidner 
Weidner arrives on Monteagle Ridge after playing at Downingtown High School West Campus in Pennsylvania. Weidner competed three years in varsity while starting in two of those years. Weidner recorded a 1.7 ERA, 0.806 WHIP, 156 Ks. Kirianna was awarded 2024 PIAA 6A District 1 ChestMont Champs along with Conference Champions.
