Niagara Readies For First-Ever Game At Louisville

The second game of a six-game road trip for the Niagara women's lacrosse team will take the squad to Louisville for a clash with the Cardinals.
 
Matchup Preview
  • This marks the first-ever meeting between Niagara and Louisville.
  • This will also be the first time the Purple Eagles have played in the state of Kentucky, and against a Kentucky-based school.
  • The Purple Eagles have played just one game against an ACC squad: a home loss to Boston College in 2009.

  • The Purple Eagles are coming in on a two-game win streak. Their most recent outing was a 12-10 comeback win at Binghamton to open the team's stretch of road games.
  • Sophomore goalie Michelle Messenger has the second-best save percentage in the nation (.591). In six appearances, Messenger holds a 2-0 record and also has the second-best goals-against average in the MAAC (9.74).
  • Shea Swartwout's 2.83 goals per game rank third in the conference. Her 3.33 points per game put her in a tie for fifth in the circuit.
  • As a team, Niagara's .432 shooting percentage leads the MAAC.
 
Scouting the Cardinals
  • Louisville has alternated wins and losses through their first eight games of the season. In their most recent outing on March 5, they were defeated at North Carolina, 19-7.
  • As a team, the Cardinals rank seventh out of eight ACC squads with a .424 shooting percentage. They also average fewer goals per game (11.88) than any other team in the conference.
  • Louisville has committed a league-high 136 turnovers so far this season.
  • With 20 points each, Hannah Morris (17 G, 3 A) and Ally Hall (15 G, 5 A) are tied for the team's scoring lead.
  • Rachel Florek has started each game in goal this season, posting an 11.96 goals-against average and a .503 save percentage through the team's opening eight games.
