The Purple Eagles host the RIT Tigers on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 3:00 p.m. Niagara was originally scheduled to take on Canisius, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 protocol. NU's game against the Tigers will replace the game that was originally scheduled for Feb. 26.

Match-Up Preview
• The Purple Eagles and Tigers will square off for the third time this season, with RIT holding a 1-0-1 lead in the season series.
• Niagara holds a 19-13-14 lead in the all-time series, including an 11-6-6 record at Dwyer Arena.
• The two teams met to open the 2020-21 season. After a 3-3 tie in game one, RIT took the second leg of the home-and-home by a final score of 5-1.
• The Tigers' Will Calverley has amassed 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists) in six games, while teammate Elijah Gonsalves has eight points (3 goals, 5 assists). The duo combined for four points (1 goal, 4 assists) in the first two games versus Niagara this season.
 
Niagara Notes
• The Purple Eagles played a home-and-home series with Mercyhurst Dec. 16 and Dec. 18. Niagara and Mercyhurst tied 3-3 in the game one, with the Lakers getting the extra point after a 2-1 shootout win. The Purple and White posted four first period goals in game two but fell to the Lakers by a final score of 7-4.
• Walker Sommer became the first Purple Eagle to record a goal in back-to-back games this season as the redshirt-junior scored once Wednesday night and twice on Friday.
• Sommer's three goals has him tied for fifth in all of Atlantic Hockey.
• Niagara is led by junior Ludwig Stenlund, who has collected five points (2 goals, 3 assists) through five games. The Skellefteå, Sweden, native tallied a goal and helped on another in the season opener against RIT.
• Croix Evingson and Ryan Naumovski also have three helpers on the season.
• Chad Veltri has started four of five games this season and goes into Tuesdays contest with a .878 save percentage and 3.91 goals against average.
• Ten of the Purple Eagles' 15 goals this season have come in the first period, including four last Friday against Mercyhurst.
 
Scouting the Tigers
  • Will Calverley leads the Tigers with 10 total points (6 goals, 4 assists) on the season so far. Calverley's six goals are a team-high.
  • Elijah Gonsalves is second on the team in points with eight. He has scored three goals and has recorded a team-high five assists.
  • Jake Hamacher and Jake Joffe have tallied three goals each and Alden Dupuis has recorded four assists.
  • Goaltender Logan Drackett has started four games. He has a 2.98 goals against average and .899 save percentage.
