NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Kelsey Araujo of women's soccer and Rafael Freitas of men's soccer have been named this week's Strategic Financial Solutions Student-Athletes of the Week.

Kelsey Araujo | Redshirt Senior | Bradford, Ontario

Forward Kelsey Araujo is a three-year letterwinner and has been a key component to the Purple Eagles attack. The Bradford, Ontario native has 15 goals, 11 assists, and 41 points in three seasons for the Purple and White. She was also named to the 2018 All-MAAC Second Team. Araujo has increased her season goal-scoring tally in each season, including a team-leading six goals during the 2019 season. Four of Araujo's six goals were game-winning goals which were tied for first in the MAAC. Araujo and teammate Mackenzie Mix were tabbed as co-captain for the upcoming season.  Araujo, who is majoring in sports management, was named to the 2019 MAAC Women's Soccer All-Academic Team and to the 2019-20 MAAC Honor Roll.

Rafael Freitas | Senior | Barreiro, Portugal

In his first season with the Purple Eagles, Freitas totaled two goals for four points in 17 games. Freitas' first goal with Niagara came late in a 2-0 win over Monmouth on October 5, 2019. The strike helped put the game out of reach to secure the team's third straight win, and second straight to open MAAC play. The junior back from Portugal put up nine shots on goal in 2019, including five shots on target.
