Only a half-game out of a playoff spot, the Niagara women's lacrosse team can climb past Quinnipiac and into the sixth position in the MAAC standings with a win against Iona and a loss by the Bobcats on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Eagles have a game in hand over Quinnipiac, and two of the team's final three games come against teams below them in the conference table.

Niagara Notes
  • In its first overtime game since 2013, Niagara dropped a 17-16 decision to Marist on April 10. The Purple Eagles got a monster day from senior Rachel MacCheyne, who scored seven goals and added two assists.
  • With the career-best seven goals on Wednesday, MacCheyne jumped to 11th in the nation in terms of goals per game (3.79).
  • MacCheyne's 9.43 draw controls per game ranks fourth among all Division I players.

  • Caroline Crump
    • Needs six assists for 20 on the year, which will tie her personal record for the ninth-most successful season in that category.
  • Hailey D'Hont
    • Is six caused turnovers away from joining Niagara's career top 10 (45).
  • Aubrey DeVeau
    • Needs five saves to tie Olivia Schneider (97) and enter Niagara's top 10.
  • Rachel MacCheyne
    • Is two caused turnovers away from joining Niagara's career top 10 (45).

    • 12 more points will also give her the single-season record in that category.
  • Amy McNally
    • Is three caused turnovers away from joining Niagara's career top 10 (45).
  • Alexis Morales
    • Can move into sole possession of ninth-place all-time with four more points, passing Ashley Baker (125).

Scouting The Gaels
  • Iona enters this weekend's matchup on a six-game losing streak, and a five-game conference skid. The last time the Gaels hit the win column came on March 13, when they stole an 8-7 overtime victory from Sacred Heart.
  • The team ranks last in the nine-team MAAC in terms of goals per game (7.86).
  • The Gaels are one of three conference squads to not receive a penalty so far this season.
  • Christine Gironda leads the Gaels with 24 points (7 G, 17 A) in 14 games this year.
  • Leah Marshall is the team's top goal scorer (19).
  • Shannon McCaffrey has played all but 60 minutes in net this season and has appeared in every game so far for Iona. She holds a .413 save percentage and a goals-against average of 14.80.
