The Niagara University women's lacrosse continues its road swing by taking on the Bulldogs of both Yale and Bryant. The northeastern stops are part of a four-game stretch away from Niagara Field that will conclude on March 13 in Florida.

Niagara Notes
  • The Purple Eagles are coming off their first loss of the season, a tight 16-12 affair at Ohio State on Sunday afternoon. Niagara fought back in the second half and narrowed the gap with an 8-3 run inside the final 20 minutes.
  • Rachel MacCheyne continues to put up strong numbers to lead the offense. Through four games the senior has accounted for 18 of the team's 56 goals (32 percent). Her 4.50 goals per game ranks eighth among all Division I players.
  • MacCheyne sits second nationally in terms of draw controls per game (9.25).
  • Maren Geiger is also making a name for herself between the pipes. As a freshman, she has the 14th-best goals-against average (8.43) in the country, with no other freshman inside the top 25 and only one other MAAC goalkeeper inside the top 30.
  • Lauren Paul has been a force for the Purple Eagles in the defensive third. She is tied with Geiger for the team lead in ground balls (14) and tops the Purple Eagles with eight caused turnovers. The joint mark Paul and Geiger share ranks 22nd overall in Division I.

Milestone Watch
  • THREE: Three more caused turnovers will bump Lauren Paul up from seventh place all-time (53) into sole possession of fourth, eclipsing Katie Callahan (54), Danielle Maio (55), and Jillian Ford (55) in the process.
  • FOUR: Alexis Morales needs just four goals to become the program's sixth 100-goal scorer.
  • FIVE: By pocketing five more assists, Caroline Crump would leapfrog from seventh all-time (51) to fourth by surpassing Ashley Baker (55), Ashley Grosso (55) and Carrie-Jo Farrugia (56).
  • FIVE: Aubrey DeVeau needs five saves to tie Olivia Schneider (97) and enter Niagara's top 10.
  • NINE: Crump needs just nine more points to pass Sandra Gallegos, the third-leading points-getter in Niagara history (178).
  • With her third goal of the game at Ohio State, MacCheyne passed Gallegos to move into second place in program history with her 179th career point. Mary Cutia's all-time mark of 202 – set in 2000 – will be the last hurdle for MacCheyne to reach.
  • With nine draw controls against the Buckeyes, MacCheyne became the second Purple Eagle to ever record at least 200 in a career. Alexandra Higgins ('18) holds the all-time record with 296.

Scouting Yale
  • The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-1 week with drastically different results. On February 26, Yale beat Hartford, 18-4, but was taken down by Penn, 15-4, on March 2.
  • The only athlete in the country with a better draw control rate than MacCheyne is on Yale's roster. Through the team's first four games, Izzy Nixon has won 45 draw controls (11.25 per game).
  • Jill Gollob's 12 goals are a team high.
  • Olivia Penoyer leads the team with 13 points (8 G, 5 A).
  • Sam Higgins' six assists are the most on the roster.
  • Amelia Drake has taken the bulk of the action for Yale in the crease. She has made all four starts and played 150 minutes, earning the decision in each game and posting a goals-against average of 11.60.
  • This will be the third consecutive season that Yale and Niagara meet on the turf, with the Purple Eagles 0-2 in the previous two outings. In their first-ever meeting, the Bulldogs emerged victorious in Connecticut following a 13-4 decision.

Scouting Bryant
  • Bryant has started its season 0-2 by way of a 24-4 dismantling at the hands of UMass on February 15 and a 21-11 defeat at Albany on February 26.
  • Jess DeMeo's three goals are a team high. The three points are tied with Meredith James (2 G, 1 A) for the most on the Bulldogs' roster.
  • Lauren Britton has won more draw controls than any other Bryant player this season (13).
  • As a team, the Bulldogs have posted a 22.50 goals-against average and a 28.60 save percentage.
  • Last season marked the first time the schools ever squared off on the field, with Bryant paying a visit to Niagara Field and leaving with an 18-8 win.
