The Niagara women's lacrosse team closes out non-conference play with a road matchup against the University of Michigan on Monday evening. The Wolverines enter the contest as the ninth-ranked team in the nation.
 
Niagara Notes
  • The Purple Eagles are coming off a 13-12 home loss to Monmouth on Saturday afternoon in the team's conference opener.
  • Rachel MacCheyne scored against the Hawks three times to tie Mary Cutia ('00) for the most points ever by a Niagara player (202). For her career, MacCheyne has 161 goals and 41 assists, and has scored 36 times through the first nine games of the 2019 season.
  • Entering the weekend, MacCheyne continued to rank as one of the nation's top scorers, accounting for 4.13 goals per game in the team's first eight games, the sixth-best rate in the country.
  • MacCheyne also wins 10.25 draw controls per game, second-best of all Division I athletes. She currently leads the Purple Eagles with 91.
  • Hailey D'Hont registered four goals on Saturday, giving her 14 on the season, third-most on the team.
 
Milestone Watch
  • Caroline Crump
    • Has 41 caused turnovers, seven away from tying Elizabeth Benedict (48) and joining the top 10 in program history.
    • Is one goal away from owning sole possession of third place in terms of scoring in program history and breaking her current tie with Megan McNerney (128).
  • Aubrey DeVeau
    • Needs five saves to tie Olivia Schneider (97) and enter Niagara's top 10.
  • Rachel MacCheyne
    • Is currently tied with and will pass Mary Cutia (202) to become Niagara's all-time leading points-getter with one more point.
    • Can reach top 10 status and tie Elizabeth Benedict ('16) with six more caused turnovers.
    • Six more goals by MacCheyne would put her into the top 10 in terms of single-season scoring, tying her with Megan McNerney's 2001 total of 39.
    • With six more draw controls, MacCheyne will hold sole possession of the third-most successful season ever in that category, surpassing Alexandra Higgins' 2018 total of 96.
  • Alexis Morales
    • Is one goal away from surpassing Carrie-Jo Faruggia (103) for career goals.
    • Can move into sole possession of ninth-place all-time with seven more points, passing Ashley Baker (125).
  • Lauren Paul
    • Is four caused turnovers away from tying Kara Martin's 2017 total of 20, which would vault her into the top 10 for a single season.
 
Scouting The Wolverines
  • The Wolverines are one of four undefeated teams in the nation, joining the company of No. 1 Boston, No. 2 Maryland and No. 8 Notre Dame.
  • Michigan holds the nation's longest win streak with 13 straight wins, dating back to last season.
  • Adriana Pendino leads the squad in goals (32), points (37), shots (60), and shot percentage (.533).
  • Mira Shane has won nine decisions for Michigan so far this season, and holds a goals-against average of 8.69 in 490-plus minutes of work.
  • The Wolverines are 3-0 all-time against Niagara, with each of the previous three matchups taking place in Ann Arbor.
  • In the last meeting between the two squads on April 4, 2017, Michigan walked away with a 20-10 win.
