The Niagara University women's lacrosse team will commence conference play when take to Niagara Field tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Monmouth.
 
Niagara Notes
  • The Purple Eagles dropped a 16-12 decision to Marquette on Sunday, March 17 at home. Rachel MacCheyne led all scorers with five points (2 G, 3 A) in the contest.
  • MacCheyne continues to rank as one of the nation's top scorers, accounting for 4.13 goals per game, the sixth-best rate in the country.
  • MacCheyne also wins 10.25 draw controls per game, second-best of all Division I athletes.
  • When holding opponents to fewer than 15 goals, Niagara is 3-0 on the year. Additionally, the Purple Eagles are also 2-0 when putting up at least 15 goals of their own.
 
Milestone Watch
  • Caroline Crump
    • Has 41 caused turnovers, seven away from tying Elizabeth Benedict (48) and joining the top 10 in program history.
    • Is three goals away from becoming the third-leading scorer in program history and passing Megan McNerney (128).
  • Aubrey DeVeau
    • Needs five saves to tie Olivia Schneider (97) and enter Niagara's top 10.
  • Rachel MacCheyne
    • Can reach top 10 status and tie Elizabeth Benedict ('16) with six more caused turnovers.
    • Six more goals by MacCheyne would put her into the top 10 in terms of single-season scoring, tying her with Megan McNerney's 2001 total of 39.
    • Would become the second Purple Eagle ever with 200 career points with one more point.
    • Will pass Mary Cutia (202) to become Niagara's all-time leading points-getter with four more points.
  • Alexis Morales
    • Is one goal away from surpassing Carrie-Jo Faruggia (103) for career goals.
    • Can move into sole possession of ninth-place all-time with seven more points, passing Ashley Baker (125).
  • Lauren Paul
    • Is six caused turnovers away from tying Kara Martin's 2017 total of 20, which would vault her into the top 10 for a single season.
 
Scouting The Hawks
  • Monmouth enters the weekend on a two-game winning streak and have won each of their last two road games. The team's most recent decision was a 12-3 home victory over Central Connecticut State.
  • Nicole Ceraso leads the Hawks with 43 points (22 G, 21 A) and is second on the team with 52 shots on target.
  • Riley Brager has been given the majority of minutes in net and holds a 10.67 goals-against average and a .461 save percentage.
  • Monmouth has scored 124 goals on the season, more than any other MAAC school. The Hawks also top the conference in ground balls (217) and caused turnovers (101).
