Purple Eagles Close Hawai’i Trip With Loss

HONOLULU – In the 13th and final game of the season-opening trip to Hawai'i, the Niagara softball team fell, 3-1, to the host Rainbow Wahine.

  • With two outs on Niagara in the top of the first, Tara Driver stepped to the dish and sent an 0-1 pitch over the center field wall to give Niagara the quick lead.
  • Overall at the plate, Driver led the Purple Eagles with two hits while Rachel Funk contributed one.
  • Four pitchers made an appearance for Niagara. Karsen Cotton allowed two runs on three hits in the first 2.0 innings. In relief, Sierra Bertrand (2.0 innings), Jenna Patterson (1.0 innings), and Emily Johnston (1.0 innings) combined to allow just three hits, two walks, and one run.
 
On Deck
  • The Purple Eagles will return to action on March 27 when they travel down the thruway for a doubleheader at Syracuse. First pitch of game one against the Orange will be at 3 p.m.
