The Niagara men's hockey team will return to Dwyer Arena this weekend as part of a home-and-home against the RIT Tigers. The Purple Eagles will head east for Friday night's matchup, before the series shifts back to Niagara County for the Saturday finale.

Matchup Preview
  • These will be the 47th and 48th all-time meetings between the two schools.
  • The Tigers went 2-1-1 against the Purple Eagles during the regular season in 2018-19, but Niagara had the final word when they eliminated RIT in the Atlantic Hockey semifinals with a 1-0 overtime victory.
  • Over the last 10 meetings, Niagara is 5-3-2 against the Tigers. Since the Polisseni Center opened in 2014, the Purple Eagles are 3-5-1 in road meetings, but have gone 1-5-4 at home in that same span.

Niagara Notes
  • The Purple Eagles are coming off back-to-back losses at No. 1 Denver. Niagara lost 6-2 in the first game, and 4-0 in the second.
  • Four of Niagara's top five scorers are newcomers to the team. Cam Cook, Ryan Cook, and Brandon Stanley each have one goal and one assist, while Scott Persson has two assists to his name.
  • Chad Veltri leads the goalkeeping corps with a 2.58 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage. In two games and 116 minutes of action, the freshman has allowed five goals and made 69 saves.

Scouting The Tigers
  • RIT stands atop the AHA standings with 10 points through four conference games.
  • RIT went 1-0-1 when it hosted Holy Cross last weekend. Saturday's game with the Crusaders made Atlantic Hockey history, as it was the first conference game to go to 3-on-3 overtime, and subsequently, a shootout. Holy Cross earned a bonus point for defeating the Tigers in the shootout.
  • Shawn Cameron (5 G, 2 A), Jake Hamacher (2 G, 5 A), and Adam Brubacher (1 G, 6 A) are all tied for the team lead in points.
  • Logan Drackett has been the lone goalie to see ice time this season for the Tigers. Drackett has won two AHA Goalie of the Week awards so far this season, and was named the league's Goalie of the Month for October.
