Lacrosse Welcomes Bryant For First All-Time Meeting

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara University women's lacrosse team continues its three-game home stand, hosting the Bryant University Bulldogs at Niagara Field on Saturday, March 17. Opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m.

  • Despite a strong first half, Niagara fell to Yale 14-7 on March 13. The Purple Eagles were outscored 10-1 in the second half.
  • Caroline Crump led the team with three goals and one assist while Rachel MacCheyne added two goals off five shots on target.
  • Goalkeeper Aubrey DeVeau had a team-high four groundballs while Lauren Paul continued her strong defensive season with three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • DeVeau made 11 saves in net.
 
On the Field: Niagara Purple Eagles (3-4)
 
  • Niagara leads the MAAC in caused turnovers per game (10.43), ranks second in the MAAC in scoring offense (12.71), points per game (17.0) and shots per game (29.86) ranks third in conference in draw controls per game (12.71).
  • The Purple Eagles rank sixth in the NCAA in ground balls per game, averaging 22.86.
  • MacCheyne ranks second in the conference in goals per game (3.29), points per game (4.43) and shots per game (7.71). She is tied for 11th in the NCAA in draw controls per game (6.57).
  • Crump is second on the team in goals (20), points (24) and shots (50).
  • Paul ranks fifth nationally with 4.29 ground balls per game and is third in the MAAC with 1.86 caused turnovers per game.
 
On the Field: Bryant Bulldogs (2-3)
 
  • The Purple Eagles and Bulldogs will meet for the first time in program history.
  • Bryant comes into the game off a 6-7 loss against Niagara's cross-town rival Canisius.
  • Jess DeMeo leads the team with 19 goals and 37 shots while ranking second on the team with 22 points.
  • Caitlin Breglia leads the team with 11 assists and 25 points.
  • The Bulldogs rank ninth nationally in ground balls per game (22.8).
