Lacrosse Returns Home To Host Yale Tuesday

The Niagara University women's lacrosse team returns home on Tuesday, March 13 to battle the Yale University Bulldogs. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Niagara Field.

  • Niagara fell for a third consecutive game on the road against nationally ranked Denver. The No. 20/16 Pioneers defeated the Purple Eagles 21-10.
  • Rachel MacCheyne led the team with four goals and one assist while Shea Swartwout recorded two goals.
  • Lauren Paul collected a team-high three ground balls while MacCheyne registered five draw controls.
  • Aubrey DeVeau made six saves in net.

  • Leading the way: Niagara leads the MAAC in scoring offense (13.67), ground balls per game (24.00), draw controls per game (13.83), shot percentage (.453), and shots on goal per game (22.67).
  • The Purple Eagles are tied for fourth nationally in ground balls per game.
  • Niagara ranks second in the conference in points per game (18.50), shots per game (30.17), and caused turnovers per game (10.33).
  • Rachel MacCheyne is second in the MAAC in goals (21), goals per game (3.50), points per game (4.83), and shots per game (7.83). She ranks third in the conference and ninth nationally in draw controls per game (7.17).
  • Lauren Paul is tied for the MAAC lead and tied for fourth in the NCAA with 4.50 ground balls per game. She is tied for third in conference with 1.67 caused turnovers per game.
 
On the Field: Yale Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0 Ivy League)
  • The Purple Eagles faceoff against the Bulldogs for the second time in program history. Yale won the first matchup 13-4 on March 13, 2017.
  • The Bulldogs come into the game off a 10-9 triple overtime loss, their first of the season, against Niagara's cross-town rival Canisius.
  • Kayla Duperrouzel leads the team with 13 goals and 16 points. Barrett Carlson ranks second on the team in goals (12) and points (14).
  • Emily Granger and Izzy Nixon lead Yale with six assists while ranking fourth and fifth with 13 points and 12 points, respectively.
