NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Purple Eagles women's lacrosse team hits the road to face off against rival St. Bonaventure on Thursday, Feb. 22. Fresh off an 8-7 home victory in its season-opener against Binghamton, Niagara looks to open the season 2-0 for the first time since 2005. The opening draw is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Last Time Out
- After falling into a 3-0 hole against Binghamton in the first two minutes of the game on Feb. 17, the Purple Eagles soared back to win 8-7.
- Niagara's victory on Feb. 17 was their first over the Bearcats since 2005.
- Rachel MacCheyne, a unanimous Preseason All-MAAC selection, got her 2018 campaign off to a hot start as she led the Purple Eagles offensively with four goals and one assist.
- Alexis Morales and Caroline Crump also had multi-point games, each recording one goal and one assist.
- Fellow unanimous Preseason All-MAAC selection Alexandra Higgins paced the team defensively with seven ground balls, five caused turnovers and three draw controls. Lauren Paul also registered seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.

- Niagara's victory over Binghamton ended an eight-game losing streak to the Bearcats.
- MacCheyne followed up her 60-goal, 75-point season from 2017 with five points in the home opener (4G, 1A).
- MacCheyne is tied for first in the MAAC in draw controls per game (five), second in the MAAC in goals per game (four) and points per game (five) and ranks fourth with 10 total shots.
- Higgins and Paul currently pace the MAAC in ground balls per game, averaging seven apiece.
- Schroeder is third in the MAAC with a .533 save percentage.
On the Field: St. Bonaventure Bonnies (0-2, 0-0 A10)
- The Bonnies head into Thursday's game 0-2. They have allowed 18 goals in each of their games so far. Niagara has won the last five matchups against St. Bonaventure.
- Ashley Easterday and Julia Davidson lead the Bonnies this season with four points (3G, 1A) and are tied with Kyra O'Gorman in goals.
- Kathryn Yoder leads the team defensively with nine groundballs and nine caused turnovers.
- Megan Conroy has guarded the net for 80 minutes this season for the Bonnies. She has accumulated 19 saves and a .442 save percentage.
