The Niagara Purple Eagles, winners of two straight, return to the Gallagher Center to host the two-time defending regular season MAAC champion Monmouth Hawks on Friday, January 12 at 7 p.m.
 
Scene Setter
•  After dropping their first two MAAC games, the Purple Eagles rebounded with two road victories last week to win their first two conference road games for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
•  Niagara defeated Siena, 84-76, for its first win at Siena in five seasons. NU used a 20-1 run in the second half to leave the McCann Center with its fifth straight road victory.
•  Niagara's 9-8 record is its best record through 17 games since the 2012-13 season.
•  NU is in search of its second three-game win streak of the season.
 
Tipoff Tidbits
•  Marvin Prochet is averaging a double-double in MAAC games with 16.5 points per game, which are eighth in scoring and a MAAC-best 11.0 rebounds per game. He ranks at the top in blocks per game (2.0) and defensive rebounds per game (8.0).
•  The Purple Eagles lead the MAAC in points per game (84.1), blocks per game (4.2), and in fewest turnovers per game (10.8).
•  Matt Scott LEADS the MAAC in scoring (22.2), second in rebounds per game (8.1), and sixth in steals per game (1.5). 
•  Kahlil Dukes is FIRST in the conference in free throw percentage (.902) and in 3-point field goal percentage (.426) and is THIRD in the NCAA in career active free throw percentage (.907).
•  Matt Scott had his MAAC-leading sixth double-double of the season with game-highs in points and in rebounds at Marist. Scott finished with 23 points, for his 12th 20-point game of the season, and had a season-high 15 rebounds. Scott's 16 career double-doubles lead all active MAAC players.
•  Matt Scott was named College Sports Madness' MAAC Player of the Week on January 8 after averaging a double-double (20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds) last week.
•  The starting lineup of Kahlil Dukes, Chris Barton, Matt Scott, Marvin Prochet and Greg King is 3-0 this season (lineup used the last two games).
 
It Takes Two
•  Matt Scott (22.2) and Kahlil Dukes (20.6) are one of the top scoring pairs in the nation. Scott and Dukes are first and second, respectively, in scoring in the MAAC. The duo is accounting for 51 percent of Niagara's scoring.
•  The duo is the only pair in the NCAA to have at least 11 20-point games this season.
•  The tandem has scored 20-plus points in the same game eight times this season.
•  The pair ranks atop of the MAAC in total field goals made.
 
On The Court
Monmouth Hawks (5-10, 1-2 MAAC)
•  Monmouth was picked third in the 2017-18 Preseason MAAC Basketball Poll.
•  Micah Seaborn, who was an unanimous Preseason All-MAAC First Team selection, leads the Hawks in scoring at 15.7 points per game, but has only played in 11 out of 15 games.
•  Reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week recipient Deion Hammond is second on the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game.
•  MU leads the MAAC in 3-point field goal percentage and second in field goal percentage and defensive field goal percentage. 
  
Against the Hawks (Monmouth Leads 9-1)
•  The first meeting between the two programs was during the 2008-09 season, which Niagara won 71-48 in the Philly Hoop Group Classic in Philadelphia.
•  The Purple Eagles have lost all nine meetings since the Hawks joined the MAAC at the start of the 2013-14 season.
