JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Niagara Purple Eagles scored the game's final six points to pull out a 57-55 win over the second-place Saint Peter's Peacocks on Saturday.
Game Summary
The Purple Eagles erased a four-point deficit in the final 1:27. Trailing 55-51, Niagara reeled off six straight points including a personal 5-0 run by
Chris Barton. The sophomore guard converted a 3-point play to cut the lead to 55-54 with 1:12 on the clock. On Niagara's next possession, Barton drove to the basket for another layup to push Niagara ahead, 56-55, with 23 seconds remaining. On its final possession, Saint Peter's missed a 3-pointer with three seconds left.
Matt Scott made one of two free throws to cap the 6-0 run to finish the game.
Niagara used an 8-0 run to build an early 14-8 lead; the Purple Eagles connected on four 3-pointers, including a pair by Scott, in the opening five minutes. The Purple Eagles had their largest lead of the game, 26-19 at the 5:59 mark, when
Kahlil Dukes connected on Niagara's sixth 3-pointer of the half. However, the Peacocks closed the half on a 14-3 run to take a 33-29 lead into the second half.
The Peacocks had the game's largest lead at 45-35 with 13:55 before the Purple Eagles responded with a 9-0 run behind a 3-pointer by
Kahlil Dukes, followed by a pair of triples by Scott. NU eventually led 51-49 with 4:52 prior to Saint Peter's scoring six straight points for a 55-51 lead with 1:27 remaining.

- Matt Scott led all scorers with 15 points, including draining a game-high four 3-pointers, and grabbed eight rebounds.
- Marvin Prochet scored 13 points, snatched a team-high nine rebounds, and had a game-high four blocks to tie a career-high.
- Chris Barton netted 11 points.
- Kahlil Dukes led the game with six assists.
- Dominic Robb raised his MAAC-leading blocks total to 50 with three in the game.
