After a Thursday night loss to the University at Buffalo Bulls at home, the Niagara men's soccer team looks to rebound against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies. Niagara looks to pick up its third straight win against the Bonnies on the road in a 3 p.m. match Sunday.
Last Time Out
- The Purple Eagles fell 3-0 to Buffalo in a Big 4 Shield match on Thursday night.
- Niagara held the Bulls in check in the early minutes, but Buffalo's Russell Cicerone gave the Bulls the lead in the 15th minute.
- After going a man down following a red card, Niagara's best chance of the first half came in the final minute before halftime. Josh Tufino crossed a pass from the left wing to the right side of the box where Navid Rahman was waiting for the chance. Rahman got a foot on it to deflect a shot on goal, but Buffalo's Joseph Kuta turned the chance away.
- The Bulls scored two goals less than three minutes apart early in the second half to advance the lead open to 3-0.
- Casey finished the match with a season-high five saves.

- Niagara's goals this season have been the result of strong passing. As a team, the Purple Eagles rank second in the MAAC with eight assists on their six goals. Only Marist (11) has more assists.
- Three of Niagara's four leading scorers are freshmen. Mackenzie Roach leads the team with two goals and one assist. Absalom Solorio Villalpando and Mbongeni Tshuma are tied with senior Konrad Zydowicz for second in team scoring; all three have one goal and one assist.
- Niagara ranks third in the MAAC with 0.33 shutouts per game, trailing Rider (0.66) and Quinnipiac (0.5). Steve Casey kept clean sheets in a 4-0 season-opening win at Robert Morris, and he kept Florida International, who started the year as a top-25 team in the NCAA, off the board in a scoreless draw on Sept. 4.
Across the Pitch: St. Bonaventure Bonnies (0-5-1)
- The Bonnies look to pick up their first win of the season when Niagara visits on Sunday.
- Niagara came out on top in last season's matchup, winning 4-0 at Niagara Field on Alumni Appreciation Night.
- St. Bonaventure is coming off a pair of 1-0 losses versus Robert Morris (Sept. 11) and at Canisius (Sept 16).
- Goalkeeper Luke Iacobellis is averaging seven saves per game to go with a 2.87 goals-against average and .700 save percentage.
