CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Niagara baseball team dropped both games in a doubleheader with Western Carolina on Wednesday.
Game 1: Niagara 4, Western Carolina 17In the top of the second inning, 
Geoff Seto doubled to center field, advancing 
Owen Dziados to third base and scoring 
Taylor Hackett for Niagara's (2-8) first run of the game. Dziados scored on a wild pitch and Seto scored after 
Tanner Kirwer was reached on a fielder's choice. Going into the bottom of the second inning, the Purple Eagles had a 3-2 lead over the Catamounts.
In the bottom of the second, however, Western Carolina (3-5) took the lead thanks to three homeruns and going into the top of the third, the Purple Eagles were down 9-3. In the top of the fourth inning, Kirwer doubled to left center, scoring Seto for Niagara's final run of the game.
Seto went 2-for-3 at the plate and had a team-high two runs. Kirwer led Niagara with two RBIs and one stolen base. In the field, first baseman 
Christian Vangeison led Niagara with seven putouts. Dziados and Seto both recorded two assists. Pitcher 
Ben Zaccagnino took the loss for the Purple Eagles.
Game 2: Niagara 2, Western Carolina 10The Catamounts owned game two and made it difficult for Niagara to gain any momentum on offense. Western Carolina held the Purple Eagles scoreless through the first five innings. In the top of the sixth, Kirwer singled, scoring Seto, who was already on base. 
Darian Blanks scored Niagara's final run in the top of the seventh.
Dziados and Kirwer had one RBI each. In the field, 
Michael Fuhrman led Niagara with six putouts. 
James Walker pitched 3.0 innings and took the loss.
The Purple Eagles conclude their North Carolina road trip as part of the USA Baseball Irish Classic March 5-7.
