Purple Eagles Face Bobcats Saturday

Coming off of a dramatic win at Marist, the Purple Eagles now take their attention to the Quinnipiac Bobcats as they look for a season sweep on Saturday, January 30 at 2 p.m.

•  The Purple Eagles, who have won two of the last three meetings, are in search of first-ever sweep of the Bobcats and first win at Quinnipiac in four attempts.Ā 
•  Niagara defeated Quinnipiac, 76-72, in its MAAC opener back on December 4 behind season-highs in field goal percentage, free throw percentage and 3-point field goal percentage.
•  NU is looking to sweep a two-game MAAC road swing for the first time since February 2015 (Fairfield, Rider).

Tipoff Tidbits
•  Niagara erased a 15-point second half deficit to defeat the Marist Red Foxes, 69-66, on Thursday to halt a four-game losing streak.
•  Trailing 58-43 with less than 12 minutes left, the Purple Eagles outscored the Red Foxes 23-4 over an 11-minute span to take a 66-62 lead. A 3-pointer by Karonn Davis with three seconds remaining won the game.
•  The win at Marist was Niagara's first true road win of the season and second win after trailing at halftime.
•  Niagara is third in the MAAC in overall scoring defense (70.2) and is on pace for its lowest points per game allowed total since the 2009-10 season (69.4).
•  The Purple Eagles are second in scoring defense (67.5) in conference games.
•  Niagara made a season-high 27 free throws and shot 81.8 percent from the free-throw line for its second highest percentage of the season against Siena on January 26. Matt Scott and Emile Blackman each set career-highs with 13 and nine, respectively.Ā 
•  Matt Scott is averaging 26 points per game while shooting 86 percent (37-for-43) from the free-throw line in the last four games.
•  Matt Scott is sixth in the MAAC in scoring with 16.5 per game, fifth in rebounds with 7.1 per game, and fourth in steals with 1.7 per game.

•  Matt Scott ignited a second half comeback as NU topped Marist, 69-66, on January 28.
•  Scott led the game in scoring with 32, rebounds with 13, assists with five, steals with four and in minutes with a career-high 40.
•  He recorded his fifth double-double of the season and of his career, while setting a new career-high with 32 points.
•  The five double-doubles are the most by a Purple Eagle guard since Alvin Cruz had five during the 2004-05 season.

Quinnipiac Bobcats (5-13/2-7 MAAC)
•  Quinnipiac in its third season in the MAAC and owns a 25-24 conference record.
•  The Bobcats have lost five straight entering Saturday's contest.
•  The Bobcats lead the nation in offensive rebounds per game at 18.1 and second in total rebounds per game at 45.4.
•  Senior guard Giovanni McLean averages a team-high 14.8 points per game.

•  The Purple Eagles took the first game of the season series back on December 4 to win consecutive home games in the series.

•  Matt Scott led all scorers with a then-career-best 31 points against Siena on January 26.
•  Scott became the 10th player in the MAAC with a 30-point performance.
•  Scott also set a career-high in free throws, going a perfect 13-for-13, which are the most by a Purple Eagle this season.
•  It is the highest free throw percentage in the MAAC this season and the highest by a Purple Eagle since Charron Fisher went 14-for-14 at Saint Peter's on January 25, 2008.

•  Matt Scott registered back-to-back 30-point games for the first time in his career when he scored 31 points against Siena on January 26 and setting a new career-high with 32 points at Marist on January 28.
