Men’s Basketball Welcomes Rider Sunday

The Niagara Purple Eagles will host the Rider Broncs on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. as the teams will meet for the first time this season.

NU returned home on Friday to face Saint Peter's, but had its bid for a season sweep of the Peacocks come up short in a 77-65 defeat. Freshman Dominique Reid led NU with 18 points and six rebounds as he is averaging 15 points and 9.5 rebounds in the last four games.

The Purple Eagles have lost the last four meetings with Rider in the series which has been tightly contested over the years. Eight of the last 14 encounters have been decided by less than four points, including Niagara's last win in the series, an 84-82 win on Feb. 11, 2012.
 
Tipoff Tidbits
•  Over the last nine games, Emile Blackman is averaging a team-best 18.3 points while shooting a team-high 44 percent. Blackman, who has scored in double figures in the last 10 games, is leading NU in scoring with 13.2 per contest.
•  Blackman became the first Purple Eagle to score 30-plus points this season when he netted a game and career-high 32 points at Quinnipiac on Feb. 8.
•  Ramone Snowden has scored in double figures in 10 of the last 12 games.
•  Karonn Davis set a new career-best in assists with a game-high nine versus Quinnipiac on Feb. 1 to set career-highs in assists in consecutive games. The nine assists are the most by a Purple Eagle since Juan'ya Green had nine against Saint Peter's on March 2, 2013.
•  Davis has had at least five assists in five of the last eight games and has 34 assists to seven turnovers in the last eight games.
•  Dominique Reid was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Feb. 2 after averaging 15.5 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game versus Marist and Quinnipiac.
•  Reid recorded his team-leading third double-double of the season with 18 points and a game-high 15 rebounds against Marist on Feb. 6 to become the first Purple Eagle with consecutive double-doubles since Bilal Benn in 2010. Reid is one of nine players in the conference with at least three double-doubles.
•  Cameron Fowler dished out a career-best six assists to share game-high honors against Quinnipiac on Feb. 8.
•  Niagara's 105 points against Quinnipiac are tied for 27th most by a team in a MAAC game.
•  Niagara's 22 assists against Quinnipiac on Feb. 1 are the most since having 23 versus Marist on February 6, 2011.
•  According to KenPom.com, Niagara is the THIRD youngest team in the nation. NU has 12 underclassmen on the roster.

•  Rider lands on Monteagle Ridge in second place in the conference and winners of five of its last six games, including winning three straight.
•  The Broncs have three double-digit scorers in Matt Lopez (12.8 ppg), Teddy Okereafor (10.4 ppg) and Jimmie Taylor (10.0 ppg).
•  Lopez leads the MAAC in field goal percentage (60.8) and is third in rebounds per game (7.9).
•  Rider is second in the conference in field goal percentage (43.9), third in steals per game (7.0) and is second with a plus-1.2 rebounding margin.

•  Niagara currently leads 20-19 in a series that began with a Purple Eagle 69-44 victory on Jan. 2, 1992.
•  Niagara is currently on a four-game losing stream to Rider.
