The Niagara men's and women's swimming and diving teams head to Canada Saturday afternoon for a meet at the University at Waterloo at 2:00 p.m. The women's team is coming off a home loss to Youngstown State last weekend, whereas the men's team is returning to action for the first time since the Oct. 24 dual meet with Binghamton and Siena.
Last Time Out- The women's swimmers and divers finished last Saturday's home meet against Youngstown State losing by a score of 196-99.
- Brianna Smith posted an impressive time in the 200 backstroke with a first-place time of 2:12.83, while also finishing second in the 100 backstroke in 59:28.
- Julia Casolo won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:18.24, while Emma Pullano's 2:23.18 in the 200 individual medley was good for first place in that event.
- Sydney Kligys finished in second place in both the 50 free and the 100 free.
- Angelica Gordon (200 individual medley, 2:25.89), Emily York (200 free, 2:01.48) and Bridgette Ehrmann (100 breaststroke, 1:13.90) all claimed second-place finishes against Youngstown State as well.
- For the men's team, their swimmers and divers won six events in their last meet at Binghamton University.
- Shawn Warner took first place in three events, finishing first in both the 100 butterfly (51.61) and the 200 butterfly (1:54.73) as well as the 400 individual medley (4:12.74).
- Andreas Rintel's 1:58.77 in the 200 backstroke was good for first place at Binghamton, while James Crumm took first place in the 200 free in 1:46.08.
- On the diving board, JaRon Williams finished first in the 3-meter dive at Binghamton, compiling a score of 267.35.
Facing the Warriors- Last season, Niagara hosted Waterloo at the Oxy Aquatic Center. The men's team fell by a very close 132-130 decision, while the women's team came out on top, winning 142.5-116.5.
- Emily Altier finished first in the 1000 free (11:06.02), Bridgette Ehrmann won the 100 breaststroke (1:12.09). Emma Pullano finished first in the 200 butterfly in 2:14.12, while Meredith Ricks' time of 1:01.83 in the 100 backstroke was good for first place as well.
- Shawn Warner and Shane Baxter led the Purple Eagles men's swimming and diving team, as those two combined to win five individual events versus Waterloo.
