In the early stages of conference play, the Niagara women's soccer team has surged into second place in the conference. By winning all three of their MAAC games to date, the Purple Eagles sit at 5-3-2 overall, trailing only 7-1-2 Monmouth. On Saturday, Niagara looks to extend their winning streak to four as they hit the road to face off with the Quinnipiac Bobcats.
Last Time Out- At Niagara Field on Wednesday, the Purple Eagles propelled their way to a 2-0 victory over the Siena Saints, scoring one goal in each half.
- Laura Ortiz opened the scoring with her first goal of the season, converting a header set up by a well-placed cross from Hayley Besaw.
- In the second half, Ortiz found her way back on the score sheet with an assist. Ortiz's placed a thru ball to Haillie Price with room to run. Price crossed the ball over to Emily Phillips, who had a tap-in opportunity for the insurance goal.
- Claire Feiertag stopped the only shot that Siena got on net.
Feiertag Sets NU Shutout Record- In the win over Siena, Feiertag set the Niagara University women's soccer program record when she recorded her 15th career shutout.
- In her career, Feiertag has recorded shutouts against Akron, Canisius (3), Cleveland State, Drexel, Duquesne, Fairfield, Robert Morris (3), Saint Peter's, Siena (2), and UB.
In the MAAC- Niagara is now 3-0-0 in MAAC play.
- Haillie Price currently leads the MAAC in shots (49), shots per game (5.44), points (18), points per game (2.0), goals (8), and goals per game (0.89).
- Senior goalkeeper Claire Feiertag is currently among the MAAC's top five in shutouts (2) and saves (41).
Across the Pitch: Quinnipiac Bobcats (5-4-0, 1-1-0 MAAC)- The all-time record between Niagara and Quinnipiac is 1-0-1 in favor of the Purple Eagles.
- The most recent matchup between the two saw NU winning by three goals, with a final score of 4-1 on Sep. 27, 2014.
- Quinnipiac is currently top-four in the MAAC in points (50), goals (16, 1.78 per game), and assists (18, 2 per game).
- The Bobcats are seeking their first MAAC home win of the season, and third home win overall of the season.
- Quinnipiac opened its MAAC campaign with a 2-0 home loss against Rider on Sept. 19, but rebounded with a 4-2 win at Saint Peter's on Sept. 26.
