Brittany Delano scored the go-ahead goal with 8:05 left in regulation
to propel the Niagara Purple Eagles women's lacrosse team to a 9-8 victory over the Siena Saints on Wednesday. With the win, Niagara improves to 6-7 (2-3 MAAC), while the Saints fall to 3-11 (1-4 MAAC).

Kayla Smith, gave her team its first and only lead of the game, notching her 11th tally of the season.
Junior
Carrie-Jo Farrugia finished with a game-high four goals to go along with one assist.
"Today was a total team effort," said head coach
Wendy Stone. "We battled for 60 minutes, put together our most complete game of the year while maintaining our composure throughout. We will look to improve our effort next time out."
Midway through the first and locked in a 3-3 tie, Siena rattled off three straight goals, giving the Siena its biggest lead of the day.
Lauren Smith scored her first of two during the run with 12:51 on the clock, netting her second midway through the second half to give her team a one goal advantage.
Facing a 6-3 deficit with 2:03 left in the first, the Purple Eagles used three different goal scorers to knot the game 6-6. Freshman
Taylor Wolf scored with just seven seconds remaining in the first half, and she was followed by goals from Smith and Farrugia to begin the second. Siena would take control of the lead two more times before Farrugia and Delano netted the final two goals of the game to grab the victory.
Niagara's defense stood tall to finish the contest, holding the Saints to just four shots over the final 12:35. Overall, NU outshot Siena by a 28-15 margin. Niagara also held the edge in the ground ball battle 15-13, marking the fifth time this season the team has outdone its opponent in that category.
Freshman
Andrea Francisco earned the win in net for Niagara, stopping four shots.
Ashley Holdridge made 11 saves in the loss for the Saints.
The Purple Eagles return to the road for an away game against the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday, April 19 at 5 p.m.
