Box Score NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara men's basketball team opened its 2014-15 schedule with an 84-66 win over the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks on Monday night.
13 Purple Eagles saw action tonight, including eight for the first time. Redshirt freshman
Karonn Davis led all scorers with 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field in 24 minutes. Redshirt sophomore
Emile Blackman added 11 points and five rebounds in his first action as a Purple Eagle. Freshman
Matt Scott was perfect from the field (4-for-4), from behind the 3-point line (2-for-2) and at the free-throw line (3-for-3) for 13 points.
Returners
Ramone Snowden,
Rayvon Harris,
Cameron Fowler and
Wesley Myers all had solid games. Snowden scored 14 points, including a game-best seven made free throws. Harris scored eight points and grabbed four boards. Myers led the game with four assists and Fowler scored five points and had four rebounds and two assists.
NU, which took a 39-31 lead into halftime, led as much as 29 points in the second half.
The Purple Eagles officially begin their season with a matchup at the ACC's Pitt Panthers on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN3, WWWS 1400 AM and on the Niagara Sports Network.
