YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Though it couldn't quite break through, the Niagara women's swimming and diving team had a solid showing against Youngstown State on Saturday, eventually falling to the Penguins by a 166-120 decision.
The Purple Eagles' 200 medley relay team of
Angelica Gordon,
Maggie Byrne,
Emma Pullano and
Clare Curran started off the meet with a time of 2:01.60 for second place.
Niagara also had second place finishes from
Emily Altier in the 1650 freestyle (18:45.74) and 500 freestyle (5:28.21),
Emily York in the 200 freestyle (2:04.52) and the 100 freestyle (56.51),
Meredith Ricks in the 100 backstroke (1:02.79),
Bridgette Ehrmann in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.33) and 200 breaststroke (2:37.31), Pullano in the 200 butterfly (2:16.08),
Sydney Kligys in the 50 freestyle (25.96) and 100 butterfly (1:01.75),
Brianna Smith in the 200 backstroke (2:16.47) and Curran in the 200 IM (2:20.45).
The 200 freestyle relay team of Ricks,
Julia Casolo, Smith, and York finished up the event with a time of 1:44.03 for a second place finish.
The women's team returns to the pool where it will be joined by the men's team at Cleveland State on Oct. 24 at 4:00 p.m. and at Fredonia State on Oct. 25 at 12:00 p.m.
