Niagara Returns to Dwyer Arena after Eight-Game Road Trip

Niagara Univ., N.Y. – The Niagara hockey team brings play back to Dwyer Arena after an eight-game road trip when the Purple Eagles host the AIC Yellow Jackets in a weekend series starting on Friday, Jan. 10 and wrapping up the following day.  Both contests are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. starts.
 
Niagara wrapped up its season-high eight-game road trip with three-point weekend at Bentley, playing the Falcons to a 2-2 stalemate on Jan. 3 before dropping its AHA foes, 5-3 the following day. The Purple Eagles are tied for fifth place with RIT in Atlantic Hockey with 11 points and a 4-4-3 mark, while going 4-11-3 in 18 games.

BUT IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT
•   Both games versus AIC will be available via the American One Network, and will be broadcasted live on WLVL, with Paul Hamilton on the call for Friday's game and Jeremy White calling Saturday's contest. 
•   Friday's game will also be available on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel with Dave Miller and Kris Baker on the call, while Saturday's game will be available on LCTV.
 
TEDDY BEAR TOSS
•   Niagara will be hosting its Teddy Bear Toss during Friday's game, benefiting the Carly's Club for Kids & Cancer Research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. 
•   Fans that bring a new, stuffed animal to the game will be able to toss them onto the ice following the Purple Eagles' first goal of the game. 
•   There will also be general reserved tickets available for $10 which includes a teddy bear and a $5 donation to Carly's Club. 
 
NIAGARA TIDBITS
•   Ryan Rashid leads the Purple Eagles in scoring with 12 points.  Rashid and Mike Conderman have a team-leading six goals, while Isaac Kohls has pocketed seven helpers.
•   Kevin Ryan is first with a +9 plus/minus rating.
•   Patrick Divjak leads the squad with 64 shots on goal. Hugo Turcotte is close behind with 61 looks on net.
• Freshmen goaltenders Jackson Teichroeb (2-6-1) and Adrian Ignagni (2-5-2) have split time between the pipes in the 18 games thus far.  Ignagni owns a 3.20 goals against average and a .898 save percentage, while Teichroeb pocketed his first owns a 3.31 GAA and a .895 save percentage.
• The team has killed 63-of-85 opponent power plays thus far, while going 7-for-79 with a man advantage.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
•  Niagara picked up a tie and a victory in the first two games of the New Year on Jan. 3-4.
•  The Purple Eagles posted a 2-2 draw in Waltham, Mass. on Jan. 3 before following with a 5-3 victory at the John Ryan Skating Arena on Jan. 4 behind a pair of goals by Mike Conderman.
•  In the opening game both squads fought back from a goal down in regulation to send the contest into extra time.  Brock Edwards was credited with the game-tying goal and Ryan Rashid added a score, while Adrian Ignagni made 34 saves. 
•  Niagara battled from behind three times on Saturday to earn win number one of the New Year, backed by a two-point night from Conderman (2-0-2), Chris Lochner (1-1-2), Rashid (0-2-2), Hugo Turcotte (1-1-2) and Isaac Kohls (1-1-2).  Jackson Teichroeb stopped 30 of the 33 shots Bentley fired on net.
•   The weekend's results kept NU undefeated against Bentley in the all-time series (6-0-2). 

STREAKING
•   Senior Ryan Rashid continues to heat up as he registered two points in the Jan. 4 win at Bentley.  Rashid has totaled two goals and two assists in his last three games.
•    Freshman Brock Edwards has tallied five points in the last six games (one goal, four assists).  He is currently on a two-game point streak.

HOME SWEET HOME
•   Niagara has outscored its foes by a 20-11 margin in its five games at Dwyer Arena this season.
•   Last season the Purple and White dominated in the scoring department while on home ice, outscoring their opponents, 61-30 in 17 games (15-0-2).
 
THE NU-AIC SERIES
•   This will be the seventh and eighth meeting between the two teams, with the Purple Eagles taking the previous six contests against the Yellow Jackets since the series began in 2010.
 
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
•  AIC currently owns a 4-13-0 overall mark, while owning a 4-7-0 AHA record.  The Yellow Jackets are tied for seventh place with Holy Cross and Sacred Heart in the AHA standings with each program having eight points to its name.
•  The Yellow Jackets are averaging 2.35 goals a game and are allowing 4.82, placing them 48th and 59th the nation, respectively. 
•  The power play has gone 12-for-57 while the penalty kill is 41-for-53, ranking them 18th and 49th in the NCAA, respectively.
•  Alexander MacMillan leads the team in scoring with 17 points with a team-leading nine goals and has added eight assists.  David Norris is tops on the team with 11 assists (3-11-14), while Jon Puskar (5-8-13) and Blake Peake (4-6-10) have also contributed offensively for the Yellow Jackets.
•  All three AIC goaltenders have been active this season with Hunter Leisner (2-6-0) and Ty Reichenback (2-4-0) seeing a majority of time in net.  Leisner has made 285 saves for a 3.98 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage, while Reichenback has pushed aside 184 shots for a .880 save percentage and a 4.70 GAA.
 
ON DECK
•   The Purple Eagles welcome Holy Cross to Dwyer for a weekend home series on Jan. 17-18.  Both games will be 7:05 p.m. starts.
•    Following their weekend series versus AIC, the Purple Eagles host 8 of the team's final 14 games, including a nationally-televised contest on CBS Sports Network against RIT on Jan. 24.
