NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles wrap up the home portion of the season when they host the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. during senior day.

Purple Eagles 101
Niagara will head into Saturday’s contest looking for its first conference win since April 3, 2011 which came against in a 9-8 win over Manhattan. To go along with their 0-4 MAAC record, the Purple Eagles have a 4-10 overall record.
Carrie-Jo Farrugia continues to lead the Purple Eagles on the offensive end, scoring 13 goals and adding a team-leading 16 assists for 29 points.
Danielle Maio is first on Niagara in goals (20), while her six assists has contributed to the 26 points she has pocketed thus far.
Maria Battista has also been strong offensively, scoring 18 goals in 14 games.
Paige Sasser has seen action in all 14 games this season, making 130 saves for a 13.92 goals-against average and a .402 save percentage.
Last Time Out
Iona kept Niagara winless MAAC play last Saturday as the Gaels dropped the Purple Eagles 16-7 at Mazella Field.
The Purps held strong in the opening half, getting scores from
Fran Pollastro, Paige Matecki, Danielle Maio to head into intermission only down 7-4. The Gaels came out firing in the second period however, going on a 9-3 run in the final 30 minutes of play to pull out the victory.
Pollastro, Matecki and Maio wrapped up the game with a pair of goals each, while
Carrie-Jo Farrugia added a score for the Purple Eagles.
Paige Sasser made 15 saves.
Scouting the Jaspers
Manhattan comes to Monteagle Ridge holding a 4-11 overall record, and a 1-4 conference mark with its last game ending in a 16-4 loss to Fairfield.
The Jaspers are led offensively by Carly Eskenazi who has pocketed 20 goals and three assists for 23 points. Stefanie Ranagan is not far behind with 15 goals on the season, while Megan Yarusso has earned 21 points with 14 goals and seven assists.
Christin Fiorinelli has been the go-to goaltender for Manhattan, playing and starting in all 15 games thus far. She has made 136 saves so far for a 12.47 goals-against average and a .421 save percentage.
All-Time vs. Manhattan
This will be the 17
th meeting between the two teams in a series that dates back to 1997. Manhattan owns a 12-4 advantage over the Purps with its last victory coming last season in a close 15-14 win. Niagara was leading by a 14-10 margin with a little more than 10 minutes to play, but the Jaspers ended the game on a 5-0 run.
Fran Pollastro scored four goals during that matchup, while Paige Matecki added a pair of scores.
Maria Battista, and
Carrie-Jo Farrugia also netted a goal each for NU.
